Robot vacuums are all the rage. As you chill on the sofa with your feet up, they can rid your floor of dust and debris. However, some models are louder than others. In other words… it’s time to get a quiet robot vacuum

This article offers a decibel (dB) and feature comparison on a mission to find the best quiet robot vacuum. But first…

How loud are robot vacuums?

Robot vacuums are, in general, quieter than traditional vacuums. Their operating noise is generally in the 55-88 dB range – that’s quieter than a smoothie maker, but louder than a washing machine

  2. Dreame X40 Ultra
  3. eufy X10 Pro
  4. iRobot Roomba j7+
  5. Roborock Q Revo
  6. Narwal Freo X Ultra

Before we see what each bot has to offer, here are some stats:

#1 – Narwal Freo Z Ultra – 53 dB

N/A

Very quiet robot cleaning with all the functionality you could ever need, the Freo Z Ultra makes a good claim to be best of the best when it comes to low-noise robot vacuums.

Is this the ultimate quiet robot vacuum? With an operating noise of 53 dB, it’s the quietest we could find.

Narwhal claims that the Freo Z Ultra will “clean before you even notice,” and with such a low operating noise on Quiet Mode, that might not be too far from the truth.

But it’s not just the quietness… the Freo Z Ultra might also be the cleverest robot vacuum you have ever seen. It is equipped with dual 1600×1200 HD cameras and dual chip, meaning it is able to make cleaning decisions in real time, after reevaluating its surroundings.

You really can leave it ‘to its own devices’. The Freo Z Ultra’s tech gives it an Advanced Obstacle Avoidance feature, and because it can detect the mess in front of it, you can rely on it to react accordingly. If it encounters a liquid, the mop function will activate. While everyday dust gets its 12,000 ‘Tornado suction’.

We could go on and on about this marvelous invention. The fact it – when it comes to the best quiet robot vacuum; the Freo Z Ultra is a winner on all fronts.

Pros

  • Ultra quiet (can go as low as 53 dB)
  • Intelligent AI
  • Tornado suction
  • Mop function
  • Self-emptying

Cons

  • The price you would expect for a market leader

Best for: Super-quiet, intelligent vacuuming and mopping

#2 – Dreame X40 Ultra Vacuum – 60 dB

N/A

Quiet, powerful, and with a very effective mop function, the Dreame X40 Ultra deserves its place in the list of premium quiet robot vacuums. A hit with reviewers online.

Don’t be too dazzled by the splendor of the Freo Z Ultra. It might be the best out there, but there are still some outstanding quiet robot vacuums around…

Take this Dreame X40 Ultra Vacuum. Many users have backed up the fact that – with an operating noise down at 60 dB – it can get on with its job without bothering you.

Like the Freo Z Ultra, it also offers a mop function, gives you multi-floor mapping via a smartphone app, has power (12,000 Pa suction), and detects different types of dirt before acting accordingly (this is the OmniDirt Detection feature).

Also, get this – not only is it a self-emptier, but it can also clean its mop and washboard with 158°F hot water to steer you clear of foul odors or stains. That temperature is one of four you’ll be able to choose from for the mopping itself.

A worthy quiet alternative to the Freo Z Ultra at a fraction of the cost.

Pros

  • Quiet (60 dB noise level)
  • Powerful
  • Mop function
  • Self emptying and cleaning

Cons

  • Users report it could be better for pet fur

Best for: Quiet and reliable AI cleaning

#3 – eufy X10 Pro – 54.7 dB

N/A

A big box ticker with a very low noise level. The eufy X10 Pro has all the popular functions of a robot vacuum, including its MopMaster 2.0, and is noted for its quiet operational noise.

Official stats from the manufacturer state the eufy X10 Pro’s noise as being just 54.7 dB at its quietest. That makes it one of the quietest robot vacuums on this list.

There is also pretty powerful suction at 8,000 Pa, a mop function called MopMaster 2.0 for your hard floors, and the smart cleaning features – in the form of its iPath Laser Navigation – you would expect from a robot vacuum (i.e. it avoids obstacles and takes the most efficient routes for cleaning).

A customizable AI map allows you to plan the robot’s vacuuming session, creating nogo zone and virtual boundaries, so it won’t get in the way.

All in all, a good value quiet option that does many of the things you would expect from far more expensive robot vacuums.

Pros

  • Quiet at 54.7 dB
  • Mop function
  • Customizable AI cleaning
  • Self cleaning

Cons

  • Users report it can be louder after self cleaning

Best for: Quiet all rounder with good functionality

#4 – iRobot Roomba j7+  – 64 dB (maximum)

N/A

Independently verified as having a low maximum noise output, this robot vacuum is a pet hair removal specialist! Trust it for removing the fur of your favourite creatures, while steering clear of their mess.

The good guys at Tech Radar did their own noise test of the iRobot j7+, and determined that it has a maximum noise output of 64 dB – that makes it very quiet.

Along with this inoffensive noise level, you also get a lot of other features into the bargain, for a nice price.

The esteemed Forbes magazine picked out the iRobot Roomba j7+ as being the best robot vacuum for pet owners. That’s not a surprise. iRobot even has its P.O.O.P. (Pet Owner Official Promise), which guarantees it will avoid pet waste. It does this through its PrecisionVision Navigation system and a camera, which allow it to identify and avoid many different types of obstacles – there’s a good boy!

There are also opportunities for your input, with the chance to schedule which rooms and cleaned and when (Imprint Smart Mapping), and the robot offers you personalized cleaning suggestions through its app.

It automatically empties and includes a 3-stage cleaning system for different floor types; brushing and vacuuming, but sadly not mopping (you, another robot, or your cleaner can do that).

Pros

  • Very quiet (64 dB maximum output)
  • Avoids pet waste and other obstacles
  • Customizable
  • Brushes and vacuums

Cons

  • No mop function

Best for: Pet owners

#5 – Roborock Q Revo – 62 dB

N/A

With a 5 litre water tank, the Roborock Q Revo is good for homes with large surface areas, keeps the noise down, is good at self cleaning and emptying, and doesn’t cost the world, either.

The Roborock Q Revo can certainly hang with the other quiet robot vacuums in this list, making just 62 dB when it is cleaning your floors.

This is a mid-price quiet robot vacuum with a noise level that is given the thumbs up by many users on Amazon. There are also a large number of features packed into the sleek black design.

It not only self empties but also self cleans and refills. Hot Air Drying takes care of any unpleasant odors post clean up, and with a 5-litre water tank, this is ideal for vacuuming and mopping large areas.

7,000 Pa suction is enough power to see you through on most surfaces. Back to the mop… it has a clever mop lifting function to ensure the dirty water doesn’t spoil the (hard?) work already done, and its dual spinning mops work with 30 adjustable water flow levels, allowing you to alter the cleaning intensity.

Intelligent cleaning is assured through PreciSense LiDAR Navigation and 3D Mapping Technology, while as with most of the robots in this list, there is an accompanying app so you can customize cleaning.

Pros

  • Low noise (62 dB)
  • Superb mop function
  • High water capacity

Cons

  • Suction is not super powerful

Best for: Homes or offices with large surface area

#6 – Narwal Freo X Ultra – 58 dB

N/A

The slightly noisier cousin of the Freo Z Ultra, the Freo X Ultra is pretty quiet, too! (and a little cheaper). A good quiet all rounder with enough power and low-hassle features to represent a good investment.

OK, so it’s not as quiet at the Freo Z Ultra, but then it’s not as expensive, either. At 58 dB, we couldn’t see many complaints about the noise from users of the Narwal Freo X Ultra.

There is enough power for a deep clean, with 8,200 Pa of suction. It gives you a solid vacuum and mop combo, and a zero-tangling brush which sends pet fur and hair directly to the dust bag without getting stuck.

The mop is a patented Rouleaux robot mop head. It leaves no gaps and gives you 180 RPM for some serious spinning to tackle those hard-to-shift stains.

What else? There is also a maintenance-free docking station to do all the washing, drying, and refilling of the mop; Self-Contained Dust Processing, which compresses dust for up to 7 weeks, cutting down on maintenance; and Tri-Laser technology for precise obstacle avoidance.

With the Freo X Ultra, Narwal has another very commendable entry in this list.

Pros

  • One of the quietest robot vacuums (58 dB)
  • Hassle-free self-washing and refilling
  • Zero tangling brush
  • Self washing

Cons

  • Not quiet as quiet as its big brother, the Freo Z Ultra

Best for: Quiet, powerful, low maintenance cleaning
